We will be at ECS in Hall 5, Stand 5-321. Come and say hello if you’re there!
CH-Polymers is participating in the HiPer project (High performance cellulose based composites) to create biocomposites for use in automotive, construction and furniture industries. This project is funded by Business Finland and companies through the entire value chain are among the participants. The use of natural fibers instead of plastic fibers and using new forming methods such as foam forming create a need for increased strength properties and thermoforming features. CH-Polymers’ binders , both high performance traditional ones and new biomaterial containing innovations are tested to achieve the best possible total carbon footprint and performance of the final product. Safety first! A safe and healthy work environment is our number one priority at CH-Polymers. Health and safety is the cornerstone of our company and safety awareness is integrated in to all of our operations. The most recent example of this is the investment in our new IBC container warehouse. The new IBC container warehouse was opened this summer at CH-Polymers’ factory site in Kaipiainen. This new facility helps us to improve the flexibility of the product delivery and product quality while also providing a safer working environment for our valuable staff. There are also some new safety improvements within the factory grounds where a new entrance gate for staff vehicles has been introduced; the provision of the new gate will further improve traffic safety in the area. Season’s greetings The factory will operate normally during the summer months.

CH-Polymers is proud to join the VTT led two-year MoPo (Multitechnological recycling for polystyrene) project. The goal of the project is to develop the whole value chain around polystyrene recycling. By joining the MoPo project, we seek to use recycled styrene in our products. Polystyrene based fast food packaging trays can be replaced with environmentally friendly natural fiber based solutions coated with CHP BAR, dramatically reducing the total amount of styrene needed for food packaging. When using recycled styrene in our barrier solutions, the need for new styrene is reduced further. Then we can create an even more sustainable food packaging solution. CH-Polymers also considers recycled styrene a valuable way of increasing the sustainable/recycled raw material content in our other products. In other words, our other binder dispersion products used in paper, paint and nonwoven industries can also get a sustainability boost from recycled styrene. The common goal for all our business units is to minimize the environmental impact of all CHP operations. Find out more about the VTT led MoPo project We wish great success to the project & look forward to sharing results with you!
Let us present some of the new, sustainable solutions from the first year of the BIO-F project! Our BIO-F project is a part of Business Finland’s program Bio and Circular Finland. The focus of the BIO-F project is to minimize the effects of product packaging on the environment. The focus of the BIO-F project can be divided into four main categories: Biodegradable and / or compostable end materials Replacement of fossil based / harmful materials Maximized durability of end product – longer life cycle Increased efficiency Next, find out how we are meeting these goals. Water-Based Barrier Coatings (WBBC) for biodegradable end materials and replacing plastics The latest example of a step change in the performance of water-based barrier coatings is the minimized migration of mineral oil through the barrier layer. This new development allows the use of recycled fiber base, without compromising food safety by keeping the contents protected from harmful substances. In other words – A sustainable solution allowing a higher rate of recycling by replacing plastic films with Water Based Barrier Coatings. When life gives you lemons – make lemonade During unstable times we all need something that will give us that extra boost. People spend more time at home and with the bright spring light shining in it is easy to detect places that would benefit from a touch of decoration. The Painting Season 2020 is starting, so go out and buy (or, actually, please order online) a can of paint. Painting is easy and also something that the whole family can participate in. You see the results immediately and the small improvements or the real masterpieces can be enjoyed by family and friends in all the coming years. Do-It-Yourself! There are a few things to keep in mind though: paint at correct temperature, read the instructions on the paint can do not paint in direct sunlight paint on dry substrate Even if you do everything right, your paint should also be up to the task. Waterborne polymers used as binders in exterior paints give your painting project long time protection. When we are developing our binders, we monitor: flexibility liquid water permeability wet adhesion exterior durability water vapour transmission i.e. “breathing” of the paint …and many other features like dirt-pick-up […]
